Gorringe Antiques has a large collection of frequently changing René Lalique vases. René Lalique is one of the world's greatest glass makers and jewellery designers of the art Nouveau and art Deco periods. In 1882 he became a freelance designer for several top jewellery houses in Paris and four years later established his own jewellery workshop. By 1890, René Lalique was recognized as one of France's foremost Art Nouveau jewellery designers; creating innovative pieces for Samuel Bing's new Paris shop, La Maison de l'Art Nouveau.

Wine Decanters, Claret Jugs, Art Nouveau click here to view stock

WMF hand blown glass wine decanters are often ornate. Most decanters have a tall, upright shape and are made of glass, often lead crystal, to allow observation of the process of decanting and come with a stopper lid, which may have a rod to aid decanting. Throughout the history of wine, decanters have played a significant role in the serving of wine. The vessels would be filled with wine from amphoras and brought to the table where a single servant could more easily handle them. Decanting is the process of pouring wine from a bottle into a carafe and is recommended for red wines. The main reason for this is to separate the clear wine from the deposit at the bottom of the bottle (influencing the quality of the wine).
